[Selected records of the Education and Information Division], 1930, 1947-1950.

Record group 76-95 consists of two sets of records of the Michigan Department of Conservation's Education and Information Division. The first set of records are weekly news bulletins (Feb. 15-May 10, 1930). These contain mimeographed sheets describing the program and activities of the Department. Gives attention to such matters as predatory control, oil lands, bird deaths, fishing regulations, game preserves, hatcheries and fishing, state parks, poster contest, deer kill, forest fires, violations, pollution, the land economic survey, aerial photography, and the like. The second set of records are outdoor facts (1947-1954). These consist of sheets, letters, speeches, and news releases that discuss the objectives of the Department, explains some of its programs, honor important staff, and tout Michigan's resources.

The 1925 Clark-McNary Act expanded the provisions of 1911 Federal legislation creating the National Forest System (Weeks Law). It made it easier for the United States Department of Agriculture to buy land from those sellers whose property was located within the National Forest System.
